Parkinson’s Awareness Month:
Supporting Movement, Independence, and Confidence
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and we’re proud to support individuals living with Parkinson’s disease through specialized, evidence-based care designed to improve movement, balance, and everyday function.
Our team includes two providers certified in LSVT BIG treatment, a research-backed program specifically developed for people with Parkinson’s:

Dr. Tiffany Cao PT, DPT, Certified LSVT-BIG

Dr. EmmaLea Wier PT, DPT, Certified LSVT-BIG
LSVT BIG focuses on high-amplitude, intentional movements to help improve:
- Walking and mobility
- Balance and stability
- Strength and coordination
- Confidence with daily activities
- Overall independence
These structured, one-on-one sessions are designed to help individuals move better, reduce fall risk, and stay active in the activities they enjoy.
This month, Dr. Tiffany Cao and Dr. EmmaLea Wier also attended University at Buffalo’s Parkinson’s Community Awareness Day, connecting with community members, sharing education, and supporting individuals and families affected by Parkinson’s. We’re proud to be involved in raising awareness and expanding access to specialized care in our community.

If you or a loved one has Parkinson’s and are noticing changes in movement, balance, or daily function, early intervention can make a meaningful difference. Our team is here to help.
PATIENT SUCCESS
Patient Success Story

“This place is as great as the staff. I came in for my assessment on my post tib and Kelly helped me out. She did an awesome job, answered all my questions, was very personal and caring, showed me new tricks toward healing I never thought of, and even gave me a packet of exercises that really impressed me. They really know their stuff here, if you’re browsing around and thinking about coming here think no further, this specific location is a don’t pass me up! Also, Craig is an amazing physical therapist he made this place a go to for life. He goes over and beyond, this guy is literally the best!”

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Recipe of the Month: Broccoli Risotto

Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ½ large sweet onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 ½ cups Arborio rice
- ½ cup dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 5 cups hot chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cups cooked broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 ½ tablespoons grated Asiago cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Gather all ingredients.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion begins to turn golden brown at the edges, about 2 minutes.
- Pour in rice, and stir until rice is coated in oil and has started to toast, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Reduce heat to medium and stir in white wine and lemon juice. Cook and stir until wine has mostly evaporated, then stir in 1/3 of the chicken broth; continue stirring until incorporated.
- Repeat this process twice more, stirring constantly. Stirring in broth should take 15 to 20 minutes in all. Stir in cream and cook 5 minutes before stirring in broccoli, chives, Parmesan cheese, and Asiago cheese. Cook and stir until risotto is hot; season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
