Common Workplace Injuries — and When to Seek Help
Not all injuries happen suddenly. Many build up over time from repetitive tasks, poor posture, or heavy lifting. Left untreated, these injuries can limit your ability to work safely and comfortably. Our ergonomic team helps you recover, prevent future issues, and get back to feeling your best.
Some of the most common workplace injuries we see include:
- Back and neck pain from lifting, bending, or sitting for long periods
- Shoulder injuries from repetitive overhead work or awkward reaching
- Knee and hip pain caused by frequent squatting, climbing, or standing
- Carpal tunnel and wrist injuries from typing, tool use, or repetitive motions
- Strains and sprains related to overexertion or sudden movements
When should you come see us?
- If pain or discomfort is making it harder to do your job
- If you’ve recently been injured at work and need help recovering
- If you’re preparing to return to work after time off
- If you want to prevent small aches from becoming bigger problems
Ergonomic Health for Everyday Life
Ergonomics isn’t just for the workplace—it’s about creating comfort, safety, and efficiency in everything we do. Simple changes in your daily environment can reduce aches, prevent injuries, and improve overall well-being.
Quick Everyday Ergonomic Tips:
- At your desk: Keep your screen at eye level and your feet flat on the floor. This reduces strain on your neck and back.
- On the couch: Avoid slouching with your laptop. Use a small pillow behind your lower back to support healthy posture.
- When driving: Adjust your seat so your knees are level with your hips and your arms are relaxed when reaching for the wheel.
- With your phone: Bring your phone up to eye level rather than bending your head down—your neck will thank you.
- At home: When lifting groceries or laundry, bend at the knees, not the waist, to protect your back.
At Trilogy, we can work with you to identify the cause of your pain, guide you through recovery, and give you the tools to protect yourself from future injury, whether you’re in the workplace or at home.

SEASONAL TIPS
Use Your Benefits Before They Expire!
As the year winds down, now is a great time to check your insurance wellness benefits and deductibles. Many plans reset on January 1st—so don’t let your hard-earned benefits go unused! Schedule your physical therapy visits, wellness sessions, or fitness evaluations before the end of the year to make the most of your coverage and start the new year feeling your best.
Hosting Thanksgiving Dinner? Manage Stress with These Tips
We love Thanksgiving at Trilogy Physical Therapy. It’s a time to gather with friends and family, enjoy a great meal, and give thanks for all of the year’s blessings. But we also know the big day can be stressful—especially if you’re hosting.
Here are a few simple tips to stay happy and healthy this Thanksgiving:
- Don’t forget your post-meal walk. If you prepped dinner, let someone else take care of the dishes while you take a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood. Relax–you earned it!
- Try some deep breathing exercises. In the thick of cooking five different side dishes and feeling overwhelmed? Try box breathing, a simple technique in which you slowly breathe in and out for 3-4 counts.
- Fix a balanced plate. Rather than stressing about overindulging, just make sure to add some green veggies to your plate alongside the cornbread stuffing and fried turkey.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Recipe of the Month: Mashed Potato Casserole

Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole milk
- 6 sprigs thyme
- 2 dried bay leaves
- 6 Tbsp. (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, divided, plus more for pan
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 4 lb. Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1″ pieces
- 3 cloves garlic, smashed and peeled
- 8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan (about 2 oz.), divided
- 2 large eggs, beaten to blend
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- Sliced chives, for serving
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring milk, thyme, bay leaves, 4 tablespoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper to a simmer. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°. Grease a 2 1/2- to 3-quart baking dish with butter.
- In a large pot, combine potatoes and garlic. Cover with at least 2″ water; season with 2 tablespoons salt. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, 12 to 15 minutes. Reserve 3/4 cup cooking liquid, then drain. Return potatoes and garlic to pot and mash with a potato masher until smooth.
- Meanwhile, return infused milk to a bare simmer over medium heat; discard thyme and bay leaves. Add cream cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan and stir until smooth and melted. Add to mashed potatoes along with eggs. If needed, gradually add reserved cooking liquid until consistency is thick but spreadable; season with salt and pepper. Transfer mixture to prepared dish.
- In a small skillet over medium heat, melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Cook, swirling pan, until butter begins to brown and smell nutty, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in panko and remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan; season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle over mashed potato mixture. Cover pan with foil.
- Bake casserole 10 minutes. Uncover and continue to bake until hot and topping is golden brown, 20 to 22 minutes. Top with chives.
PATIENT SUCCESS
Patient Success Story

“I have been dealing with back pain for quite some time and have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I saw a different PT and they weren’t helping me, just temporary relief and masking symptoms. I am so happy to have found Trilogy Physical Therapy and Emma Lee. She has helped me tackle the root of the issues in as little as three months! She showed me different techniques to alleviate the pain and to be much more functional. I have started the gym program to maintain the strength that I have gained in my low back. Before Trilogy Physical Therapy felt devastated and scared about my future. All the staff truly care about getting you back up to functionality and back on your feet to live your best life. Thank you.” – K.R.
SERVICE SPOTLIGHTS
McKenzie Method for Treating Neck Pain
Are you tired of dealing with persistent neck pain? The McKenzie Method could be your ticket to relief. This innovative approach to neck pain treatment focuses on education, exercises, and posture correction, aiming to reduce pain and prevent future discomfort. Let’s look closer at how the McKenzie Method can provide the relief you’ve been seeking.
Reducing Pain and Enhancing Functionality
The core principle of the McKenzie Method is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to manage their neck pain effectively. Your journey with the McKenzie Method begins with a thorough assessment by one of our trained therapists. This assessment helps categorize your condition and allows your therapist to recommend tailored neck exercises. Additionally, we’ll provide guidance on which postures to adopt and which to avoid. These exercises not only address your current symptoms but also work to prevent future recurrences.
Focused on Relief
One distinctive feature of the McKenzie Method is its emphasis on movements and positions that provide immediate and lasting relief. Your therapist will identify which specific movements and postures alleviate your neck pain and incorporate them into your treatment plan. Equally important is recognizing and modifying movements or positions that worsen your condition. With the McKenzie Method, you can actively participate in your own recovery by doing what helps and avoiding what hurts!
